LOCATION. The house is at the western tip of the pointe de
Penmarch, in a village known as St. Pierre, and its distance to the
lighthouse is 379m (exactly!). There are small shops nearby, bigger ones in
St. Guénolé, a couple of supermarkets and quite an important open air market
on Friday mornings. The bar/tabac/bread shop/.general store (all round
shopping) is just across the road from the house. Lovely baguettes. They still sell chunks of
butter cut from a huge slab – delicious! THE HOUSE is a typical Breton village
house, very well built in 1934 (and completely refurbished to a very high
standard in the winter of 1984/85), with a walled southern garden (with a
barbecue in one corner). GROUND FLOOR. Thre is a large open plan
dining/sitting room with a metered telephone, TV and video and radio cassette
player, which leads through French windows to the spacious double glazed
verandah set on the southern elevation – you can bask, sunbathe here despite
any otherwise inconvenient breezes. The verandah is big enough to play table
tennis in. We of course provide an all weather table and racquets. The
kitchen/breakfast room is extremely well equipped, with all the appliances
you might need : electric deep fryer, pulsated heat oven, gas four ring
cooker, big fridge/freezer, large efficient dishwasher, Kenwood Chef
complete, electric coffee maker and grinder, toaster, herb chopper, electric
fruit squeezer, microwave oven and automatic washing machine. Also on the
ground floor there is a WC with hand basin. FIRST FLOOR On this floor there are two
large bedrooms, each with a double bed. Also a separate WC, a large bathroom
with bath and shower attachment, bidet, basin and a razor socket. There is a
third bedroom (in fact a few steps down) – known as the dormitory, which
contains modular furniture devised to sleep five people but which, when not
required, can convert into chairs, sofas, etc. It is a large room which
easily accommodates its five, or if the beds are not in use, has plenty of
space to double up as a kids playroom. TOP FLOOR. Two more bedrooms, one facing
south, the other north, each with a view of the sea, to the two different
sides of Penmarch point. Also on this floor, a second bathroom, again with a
bath, shower attachment, basin and WC. One of the bedrooms has a double and
single bed, while the other has two single beds. DISTANCES Kms Miles Kms Miles Roscoff 129
